During the February meeting, Linda Powell presented several of her rug-hooked pillows.  She suggested adding creative designs to both front and back of the pillows as in the Harley-themed pillow where she incorporated faux leather with grommets and lacing on the back of this pillow.

She also suggested using different trims at the seams where the front panel is sewed to the back panel.  For the William Morris pillow, Linda selected a thick fringe that helped hide the side seams. She also showcased her fabric covered cording and other upholstery trims, as seen on the whale tail pillow.

Linda encouraged to think outside the box and draw inspiration from bedding companies that offer unique pillow designs.  One innovative example she shared, was a black and red pillow, featuring a hooked piece that functions as a muff covering the inside red pillow. Linda prefers using down fill over polyester, but adds polyester in the corners if additional stuffing is needed. Down fill is heavier and stays put on a chair or sofa. She also noted that down filled pillows can often be purchased at discount outlet stores more affordably than just the down inserts.  Check out the pillow aisles at your local department stores!
