Christmas Ornament Fun with Rita Frantz!

Rita Frantz brings the holiday spirit to life with her charming handmade Christmas ornaments. Each year, she creates between 40 to 50 ornaments, using small leftover pieces of linen. To make the linen large enough to fit her hooking frame, she sews fabric to the sides - making use of every scrap of linen!

Once the ornaments are hooked, Rita adds embellishments to complete each design.  While most of her creations are hooked, she has experimented with a few non-hooked ornaments as well.

To finish them, she applies tacky glue to the back of the linen and allows to dry before cutting out the ornament shape.  A string is then added for hanging, and a piece of felt is glued to the back for a clean finish.  Rita has created ornaments for at least 22 years, each one showcasing a different design.  With such a long tradition behind her, she jokes that she’s starting to run out of ideas - but her festive spirt and creativity continue to shine with every ornament she makes!
