Celebrating Greatness!

Vivily Powers & Sibyl Osicka
Two remarkable matriarchs of the Rug Hooking World have made an incredible impact on the rug hooking community, generously sharing their knowledge, creativity, and many years of experience with others.
Vivily Powers has been a Pearl McGown certified teacher for over 50 years. A master dyer, she has color-planned and dyed hundreds of pieces throughout her career. She has a special gift for matching wool colors when we run out, and she has developed her own specialty dyeing techniques through Colorama.
Vivily has lived in Manchester for over 60 years and has traveled the world with Jane McGown Flynn. Her unmistakable Rhode Island accent is a never-ending source of amusement and one of the many things that makes her so memorable.
Sibyl Osicka has been a Pearl McGown certified teacher for over 40 years. When she first began teaching, she was asked to teach two different workshops—and she has been on the road ever since! She has traveled throughout the United States and Canada, teaching workshops and displaying her work.
Sibyl has written several books on rug hooking and dyeing and is especially known for her beautiful hooked shading of fabrics, as well as her meticulous faces and animals. Her attention to detail and distinctive style have made her work admired by rug hookers everywhere.
Sibyl was once a student of Vivily, and today, these two talented and inspiring ladies continue to influence and encourage generations of rug hookers. What began as teacher and student has grown into a beautiful story of friendship, mentorship, and a shared passion for the craft.
Through their dedication and willingness to teach, they have helped shape the rug hooking journey for so many. Their knowledge has been passed from one hooker to another, keeping the tradition alive while inspiring new ideas and creativity along the way.
Thank you, Sibyl and Vivily, for the countless hours, lessons, inspiration, and love you have poured into the rug hooking community. Your influence will continue to be felt for generations to come.
Let’s welcome our newest & youngest rug hooker, Sadie Morrison!

Sadie is a 9-year-old fourth-grade student who enjoys rug hooking with her grandma, Cathy Davis. Both
Sadie and Cathy are proud members of a rug hooking group in Wooster.
For her first rug, Sadie drew her own fish design, created a color plan, and then hooked the rug herself as a special gift for her Papa. 🐟❤️
Her hard work and creativity have already earned her some wonderful recognition—Sadie took 2nd place at her local county fair for her fish rug!
We are so excited to have Sadie as part of our rug hooking community. Keep up the great work, Sadie! We can’t wait to see what you create next!
